Voter Fraud case stopped in Winston Salem…

I would have never thought that voter fraud is so possible in this age, and there are many ways to improve my legitimate mistake to (massively) disenfranchise selected groups of races or political leaning ilks. My experience began when I voted early last week.

I am a Winston Salem resident and an independently voting Democrat.

As I voted early last Friday at a local library, I gave my name, address and signed the document and had it witnessed by the polling agents. I casually asked why I didn’t need to show proof of ID, and they said it has been a NC State Democratically passed law that IDs were not needed to vote… but that the Republicans in the government had tried for the last 8 years to have ID as proof before voting, so as to stop any attempts at voter fraud. And then I received a short lecture why the government, after spending $6 million, only proved 6 cases of fraud. “Do you want to waste that much money again to prove a non event?” I was told.

All I said was that I bet the fraud study was not done in Chicago!

Anyway, I take my seat and move closer to the time to cast my vote. As I am the next in line, I look over the voting document I was handed and realize, to my horror, that I was not the person on the paper. We had the same first and last name, but the middle name and address were wrong!!! I got up and went to the agent who had signed me off , pleaded my case, and there was a quick attempt to quiet me. I told her I was furious at the error she caused and again made my point about IDs. I was handed a correct voters document and asked to sit back down. I then asked what would have happened if I had not been honest… and got a lecture on voter fraud penalties.

No ID checks mean:

I could have mistakenly voted as who the document stated I was, and when the real person tried to vote, he would not be allowed to and his vote would be traced and destroyed, hence disenfranchising 2 votes, his and mine.

I could have knowingly committed fraud, the other man may not have voted, and I could reappear later as my self and hence cast 2 ballots in Nov. 2010.

I would have never thought that voter fraud is so possible in this age, and there are many ways to improve my legitimate mistake to (massively) disenfranchise selected groups of races or political leaning ilks.

I have called the local Voting Fraud number to report my narrow escape from voting as another person.
